The Documentation of Individual Identity: Historical and Comparative Perspectives since 1500

A two day interdiciplinary conference on ‘Medieval Skin’ will take place at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, on 17-18 July 2009. Nothing on early tattooing according to the programme, but papers will explore the signifying potential of flesh and body surfaces in a range of other medieval contexts.
